An extraordinary American artist and one of the most original painters to work in watercolor, Charles Burchfield inspired generations of fellow 20th-century artists. For the first time ever, a selection of Burchfleld's paintings, prints and sketches from the Burchfield-Penney Art Center in Buffalo, New York, home of the largest collection of the artist's work, is touring the United States. Including sixty-six works, the exhibition provides a complete overview of Burchfield's oeuvre and juxtaposes the artist's studies with his watercolor masterworks, offering insight into his creative process and working methods.
