Wild Beasts! Roy De Forest & Gaylen Hansen
The Schneider Museum of Art is currently presenting work by regional
artists Roy De Forest and Gaylen Hansen through December 11, 1999. Visitors
to the exhibition will enter a realm where heroic dogs travel through fantastic
landscapes, where gigantic tulips menace bison, and the trout really are
that big. Wild Beasts! features acclaimed contemporary artists Roy
De
Forest
and Gaylen Hansen who create colorful irreverent, and humorous visual narratives
based on their lives and experiences in the American west. De Forest and
Hansen invest their visual tall tales with technical expertise and intellectual
complexity earned from years of experience and experimentation. Each painting
exemplifies exuberance and boundless curiosity, and will be a particularly
satisfying treat for all viewers. (left: Roy De Forest, Incident

Wild Beasts! was organized by the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, Great Falls, Montana. This exhibit is made possible in part by grants from the Richard Florsheim Art Fund, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Schneider Museum of Art is located on the Southern Oregon University campus on the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Indiana Street in Ashland. Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and First Fridays, 5-7 p.m.
