- 88th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition

- Ayres
Hall at the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia is the site for the 88th Annual
Gold Medal Exhibition of paintings and sculptures by California's Contemporary-Traditional
artists. One hundred twenty artists are exhibiting approximately 200 paintings
and sculptures through June 22, 1997. Ayres Hall will be open daily during
the Exhibition from 9:00AM to 4:30PM.

- First Place Medals were granted at the
awards ceremony on June 14 to: Daryl Bryant in the Still Life category
for Bean Jug; Steve Huston in the Portrait/Figure category
for The Goldon Boy; Roo Li in the Seascape/Marine category
for Resurgance; Joseph Mendez in the Landscape category for

- The Best of Show award was granted to
Jove Wang for a 48 x 72 inch painting titled Father.

- Ribbons were also awarded to Peter
Adams, John Asaro, Donna Barnes-Roberts, John Bohnenberger, Neil Boyle,
Kanya Bugreyev, Don Durborow, Esther Engelman, William George, Dan Goozee',
Rick Humphrey, Jack Johnson, Marguerite Lyons, Stephen E. Mirich, Bobbie
Moline-Kramer, Daniel Pinkham, Alexey Steele and Rosita H.Tseu.

- The Exhibition was juried by California
Art Club Signature Members: Louise DeMore, David Jonas, Alexander V.
Orlov, Joyce Pike and Beatrice Stuart.

- The Resource Library Magazine and Traditional

- The California Art Club, established
in 1909, is the Western United States' largest art association with
approximately 250 artist members and 750 patron members. Membership is
currently closed to additional artists, however patrons may join this excellent
association by calling 1-310-583-9009.

- CAC publishes a monthly newsletter with
scholarly articles, calendar of events and citations on artist members'
awards, exhibitions and publications. Monthly meetings are held on the
first Sunday of the month. Founders of TFAOI have been advocates, financial
patrons and volunteers for CAC events for the past three years.
