Cowboy Artists of America
R. S. Riddick
R.S. Riddick has been painting the beauty, color and strength of the Western experience for more than 20 years. From a very early age he demonstrated creative skills and was encouraged by teachers and his parents to study art.
Riddick, who grew up in Los Angeles, is a classically trained artist who studied at Chounaird Institute and the Art Center College of Design. After a career as an art director and owner of a graphics business, he began painting professionally. He credits his studies with Russian painter Sergei Bongart, as teaching him to "paint from life." But it was his childhood experiences on his uncle's Northern Arizona ranch that built his love for the animals and people who create the West.
"It is my goal to capture the poetry of the West and the scenes that evoke the memories of the way things were and still are today," Riddick explains. "By recording the story of the Western experience, I can positively touch people's lives."
