The Illuminated Word: The Manuscript Paintings of Diane Pivonski

In the Fall of 1998, editors of this magazine contacted art departments and museum directors of several religious universities and colleges to request material for a series of articles on contemporary religious art in the United States. To our surprise, the institutions have not responded as of this date (January 18, 1999).

In searching for contemporary religious art on the Internet the editors did discover the manuscript paintings of Chicago artist Diane Pivonski. Diane generously shared with RLM slides of art works from recent exhibitions, which are shown with this article.

Ms. Pivonski has recently exhibited in The Fine Arts Building, Chicago, IL, St. Vincent Ferrer Church, River Forest, IL, and The Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago, Chicago,IL Ms. Pivonski may be reached care of The Fine Arts Building, 410 South Michigan Avenue, Suite 929, Chicago, IL, 60605-1302 or call 312.341.9055 or 800.801.8885.
