Northern New Mexico Diary, continued...
by John Hazeltine
Right outside of Chimayo, on the High Road to Taos, you will pass the Trujillo's weaving shop, Centinela Traditional Arts. Lisa Trujillo is con sidered one of the most talented weavers in New Mexico, often taking months to finish a textile art piece.
This is the fruit tree orchard next to the Trujillo's studio/gallery. Do you remember the Milagro Beanfield War movie? It was filmed near here in Truchas. Time seems to slow down in and about these ancient villages.
If you have time to stay in the country while visiting Northern New Mexico, Chimayo is a charming place to unwind. This trip John and Barbara stayed at Sue Farrington's La Posada de Chimayo, a two-unit B&B. Sue started the first B&B in the state here, and the quality is as good as ever.
