T Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco has re-formatted its free monthly newsletter, News From the Thinker. With over 6,500 subscribers from all over the world, News From the Thinker extends the outreach of the City by the Bay's fine pair of museums, The California Palace of the Legion of Honor and the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum, to audiences previously unavailable. A resource used by educators, students, artists, and art lovers of all levels, News From the Thinker is designed to showcase the permanent collections of the Fine Arts Museums as reflected in their enormous imagebase of digitized art, the largest searchable imagebase of art online in the world.

In addition to a featured "Image of the Month" with extensive background commentary, regular articles include subscriber feedback and impressions, a "Behind the Scenes" feature that allows readers to learn about the various staff members and job functions within a museum, as well as technical advice to enhance the online art-viewing experience.

The format of the newsletter is by no means static, with future plans to include such features as a "create your own gallery" of favorite images and more educational enhancements. Again, subscribing is free to all. To subscribe, contact Lori Lindberg, Editor, at or visit the FAMSF website to subscribe online.
