Barbara Chiminello: American Artist
Virginia artist Barbara
Chiminello has been painting for over thirty years. She is originally from
Quincy, Massachusetts. Barbara was born into a military family and attended
Notre Dame of Maryland High School. She lived briefly in Baltimore and graduated
from Bel Air High School. She received her B.S. as an R.N. from Incarnate
Word College in San Antonio, Texas. Barbara served in the U.S. Army from
1963-1970 as an Army Nurse Corps Officer and she is a Vietnam Veteran.
Barbara has studied art at San Francisco
State College, at the Marion Art League in Marion, Massachusetts and at
the Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She attended the
Southwest Craft Center and the McNay Art School, both in San Antonio, Texas.
She lived abroad for seven years and studied art in Heidelberg and Stuttgart,
Germany. She has worked under the guidance of the professional artist Richard
Weers of San Antonio, Texas and she is currently painting with the Art League
at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia.
Barbara's work has sold throughout Europe while she was
living and traveling abroad. She has also exhibited and sold through the
River Art Gallery in San Antonio, Texas. Locally, she has had
one-woman exhibits at Helen's Garden, Blue
Moon Café, One World Café, and A&A Gallery in Baltimore,
Maryland. Her work is on display at Paper, Rocks, Scissors Gallery in the
Hamden neighborhood of Baltimore. Also, her work is being featured at #201
North Charles Street as part of the "Baltimore Exposure" group
artists show that opens July 6th, 2000. She currently lives in Alexandria,
Virginia. She attends art classes and paints full-time. Barbara is spending
time this summer painting in France as part of a class offered by the Torpedo
Factory. We look forward to seeing how this will influence her art!
