Previously named the Art Museum at Florida International University, on January 5, 2004 the Museum was renamed the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum. Founded in 1972 as a student gallery, the Frost Art Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums, houses the Oscar B. Cintas Fellows Collection and is best known for its Latin American and 20th century American art. In 1994, renowned art collector Martin Z. Margulies decided to share his collection of contemporary sculptures with the University community by placing over 70 pieces on long-term loan to the museum in what is known as the Martin Z. Margulies Sculpture Park. In 2001, the Museum signed an accord with the Smithsonian American Art Museum that made the Smithsonian's 142 million artifacts and specimens available for study and display in Miami. The Frost Art Museum is located at Florida International University in Miami, FL. For hours and fees please see the Museum's website.
