Force in Form: Bronze Sculpture by James Lee Hansen

Exhibitions of paintings and drawings by Robert C. Jones and bronze sculpture by James Lee Hansen opened September 3, 1999 at the Museum of Northwest Art. Both shows run through November 28, 1999.

Force in Form is a retrospective exhibition of Battleground, Washington sculptor James Lee Hansen's career. The bronze, highly polished work, stands bold and strong. Each piece speaks a different tale of the influencing indigenous elements -- Native American, Greek and Asian, which give the artist his inspiration. Some forms in his series, Equestrian, Shaman and Guardian, are unmistakably recognizable while others bulge abstractly and stretch out into space, only suggesting representational form.
