Christopher Terry: Recent Paintings

November 2, 1999 - January 22, 2000

In the catalogue essay for the exhibition Christopher Terry: Recent Paintings, Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art Director Steven Rosen interprets the art of Christopher Terry: "Christopher Terry's subjects invariably appear as simple, straightforward and uncluttered scenes of domestic calm that reside squarely and solidly in place. There is a tranquility about them and no inhospitable intruder nor wafting wind is going to upset the stationary status of his composition. Our subconscious asks the question about who or what has been here, or better still, who or what will be here. His well-conceived titles... imply a certainty of identification, leaving at the same time, each picture open for continuing definition."
