Franz Strahalm was born in Vienna, Austria and studied at the Art School of Hamburg. Strahalm eventually moved to Dallas and opened the School in Fine Painting, a private art studio. Specializing in Texas landscapes, the artist was asked to exhibit one example of his work at the prestigious 1926 Sesquicentennial International Exhibition in Philadelphia.
