Bermuda: Two Centuries of Inspiration

A rare collection of more than 50 works in diverse styles and media, all depicting the captivating landscape and wondrous palette of Bermuda by such renowned artists as Winslow Homer,Gifford Beal, and Georgia O'Keeffe, is on exhibit at Woodmere Art Museum February 20 through April 2, 2000. Organized by the Masterworks Foundation of Bermuda, this traveling exhibition documents the little known art history of Bermuda, an island paradise that has, in fact, been an unrivaled artists' colony inspiring many noted artists over the past 200 years.

Woodmere is one of only two east coast venues for the exhibit. "'We are delighted to have been selected as the first overseas stop for this unique exhibit," says Michael W. Schantz, The Patricia Van Burgh Allison Director, "especially since numerous Philadelphia area artists are represented in the show including Thomas Pollock Anshutz, Charles Demuth, James Toogood, Prosper Senat, and Andrew Wyeth."
